Eligibility and Enrollment

 

STAFF/MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES

 

  • Employee must be appointed to at least half-time (.50) or more, and

  • an initial appointment duration of more than six months (six months and one day) 

 


 

 

FACULTY EMPLOYEES

 

  • appointed to at least half-time (7.5 WTU's' or greater), and

  • an initial appointment duration of more than six months (six months and one day). 

 

Temporary Academic Employees

  • If employed in a Unit 3 Lecturer or Coach Academic Year position, employee must be appointed for at least six (6) weighted teaching units for at least one semester, or two consecutive quarter terms.

  • Qualifying appointments may be either permanent or temporary.

  • Once an employee has acquired eligibility and has enrolled in a plan, he/she may continue enrollment during subsequent continuous appointments of at least half-time regardless of the duration of the new appointment.

AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (ACA) ELIGIBILITY

 

If you do not meet the standard criteria for benefits eligible employees, you may be eligible to enroll in CalPERS health benefits or FlexCash under the ACA if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • You are appointed with at least a .75 timebase or higher regardless of length of appointment (duration) or initially hired to work at least 130 hours per month.

New Enrollments

 

Employees have 60 calendar days from the date of eligibility to enroll. In order to enroll, employees must submit an online enrollment through the Titan Online PortalOpens in new window . If you complete the enrollment documents by the end of the month, coverage will be effective the 1st of the following month.

 


 

 

Cobra

 

If you or your eligible dependents can no longer participate in a benefit plan due to a loss of eligibility in, medical, dental and/or vision plan coverage, you may continue your benefits under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) for a specified amount of time. Direct Pay

 

If you are on a formal leave of absence without pay or are on an approved non-pay status you may elect to pay the full premium for your coverage through Direct Pay. Please contact HRDI – Total Wellness for details.

 


 

 

FlexCash Plan

 

If eligible employees are receiving outside non-CSU coverage, they may waive CSU medical and/or dental coverage in exchange for a monthly stipend. Please see the CSU FlexCash Plan Brochure for details.
