SchoolsFirst Excellence in Education Award - New for 2025
This award recognizes one outstanding faculty member and one exemplary staff member at Cal State Fullerton who have significantly contributed to fostering education and supporting student success, aligning with the values of SchoolsFirst Credit Union. At Cal State Fullerton, we believe that everyone contributes to the mission of education –whether directly in the classroom or through support and administrative services that enable learning and development.
Nomination
Nominees will be evaluated based one or all of the following criteria:
Faculty Award Criteria

Innovative Teaching
Examples Include:-
- Demonstrates creativity and innovation in teaching methods that enhance student learning and engagement.
- Incorporates educational technologies or unique strategies to advance knowledge in their discipline.

Commitment to Student Success
Examples Include:-
- Provide exceptional mentorship, guidance, or support to students.
- Actively contributes to student achievements, such as research, internships, or career development.

Examples Include:-
- Develops programs, curricula, or initiatives that improve educational outcomes or broaden access to education.
- Engages in scholarly activities that advance their field and positively impact education.

Staff Award Criteria

Dedication to Student Support
Examples Include:-
- Demonstrates outstanding service to students and the campus community; advising, programming, or support and administrative services (facilities, safety, etc.).
- Goes above and beyond to create an inclusive and supportive environment for student success.

Examples Include:-
- Actively contributes to initiatives or partnerships that enhance educational opportunities on campus.
- Collaborates with colleagues, departments, or external organizations to improve student outcomes.

Eligibility
Must be full-time or part-time employee in good standing with at least one-year of service at Cal State Fullerton.
Nomination Process
Each nomination will be reviewed and scored individually by all members of the University Awards Program Committee. The top scoring nominations will be selected as the SchoolsFirst Excellence in Education Award recipients at the University Awards Program.
Recognition
Winners be recognized at the University Awards Program, receive a monetary award, receive an engraved plaque, and recognition on the HRIE website.
Nominations are open Jan 13 – Feb 18, 2025.
Titan Excellence Award
The Titan Excellence Award recognizes individuals of the Titan Family contributed to the day-to-day operations critical to the needs of our students and campus. These Titans dedicate themselves every day to a job well done and are committed to the university's mission and values.
Your nominee should possess these skills for success:
- Values student success
- Promotes inclusivity
- Builds community
- Demonstrates exemplary service to the campus and/or community
- Provides outstanding education support

Tell us how the individual or team has demonstrated success in their approach and why they deserve to be recognized. Consider the criteria above and use specific examples, evidence and the University’s mission and strategic goals
to inform your response.
Eligibility
All active full-time and part-time faculty, staff and administrators are eligible for this nomination. Any university employee or student can nominate a faculty, staff or administrator.
Nomination Process
Each nomination will be reviewed and scored individually by all members of the Titan Excellence Nominations committee. The top three scored nominations will be selected as Titan Excellence Award winners. Of the three winners, one will be recognized as Titan of the Year.
Recognition
Winners be recognized at the University Awards Program, receive a monetary award, receive an engraved plaque, lunch with the President, and recognition on the HRIE website.
Nominations are open Jan 13 – Feb 18, 2025.
Teamwork and Collaboration Award
The Teamwork and Collaboration Award recognizes teams or individuals who demonstrate cooperation, collaboration and open communication. Eligible teams should be comprised of staff and/or faculty members who have collaborated and worked together on a project or significant effort that advanced college/departmental goals and /or the University’s strategic goals.
Their work may model the following criteria:
- Models open communication, trust, and collaboration
- Develops partnerships that seek input of those affected by decisions
- Promotes an inclusive team environment by valuing a respect for differences
- Builds effective and collaborative relationships to accomplish organizational goals

Eligibility
All full-time and part-time faculty, staff and administrators are eligible for this nomination. Any university employee may nominate faculty, staff, or administrators. Teams are, in general, more than one, but fewer than 10 people. Team’s membership may constitute a department or cross-unit.
Nomination Process
Nominations will be reviewed by the University Awards Program Committee. The top scoring individual/teams will be selected as the winners of the Teamwork and Collaboration award at the University Awards Program.

Winners be recognized at the University Awards Program, receive a monetary award, receive an engraved plaque, and recognition on the HRIE website.

Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Award
The Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Award recognizes an individual or a team (no more than 10) whose actions have promoted an inclusive, transformative, just and equitable campus environment that is exemplifies the University’s Social Justice Guiding Principles
.
Their work may involve the following criteria:
- Enhance Equitable Learning
- Expands Intentional Outreach
- Amplifies our HSI Designation & Radiates an Identity of Inclusion
- Builds a Professoriate-to-Leadership Pipeline
- Recognizes History and Catalyzes Change
- Creates an Antiracist Community

Earned Degree
Faculty, staff, and administrators who have earned a college or university degree during the 2023/24 academic year are eligible to be recognized at the event and listed in the online program.
Degrees must have been conferred to the individual between May 28, 2023 – Aug. 5, 2024, and recognition is contingent upon degree verification.
Nominations are open Jan 13 – Feb 18, 2025.
All award winners will be recognized at the University Awards Program on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
Employees who submit an earned degree in the 2023-2024 academic year will be listed in the online program and will be recognized during the event.
