Eliminate Campus Sexual Misconduct

This course provides practical training for identifying, reporting, and preventing campus sexual violence, as well as assisting victims of sexual assault. Interactive case studies and videos provide engaging educational content that explains how to respond to known or suspected sexual violence, which includes sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. Many interactions are based on real cases that teach important concepts to help create a safe campus community and create a culture that does not tolerate sexual violence. The course teaches employees valuable skills for assisting victims and survivors of sexual violence and reporting sexual violence. The course content also helps postsecondary institutions comply with the employee training requirements of Title IX and the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE Act).

Sexual assault is an epidemic affecting college students. Federal law requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to train their faculty and staff on how to recognize sexual misconduct, report incidents to campus authorities, and prevent sexual misconduct from occurring in the first place. This course also provides state-specific legal definitions of sexual violence, and describes victim protections, bystander intervention strategies, and school disciplinary proceedings.

Campus Solutions Access and Training (If Applicable to Position)

Students needing access to information technology systems (i.e. CMS Campus Solutions) must complete the IT: Campus Solutions FERPA training (through the Fullerton Training Hub), and successfully pass the quiz. The manager must approve access on Information Technology System Access Request Forms.

Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect (If Applicable to Position)

Effective immediately, Payroll will collect all Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Agreements, CSU Executive Order 1083, when new employees (including students) complete their sign-in paperwork at Payroll. Departments are no longer required to collect these forms.

As a society, we all share the responsibility of protecting our children from abuse and neglect. To encourage adults to report suspected abuse or neglect, all 50 states have laws requiring adults in certain professions who regularly come in contact with children to report any mistreatment to local government agencies. These laws establish a legal duty to report and penalties for failing to report, while granting immunity and confidentiality to those who report in good faith. And, depending on the state, these laws also authorize and encourage adults otherwise not required to report to contact the authorities when they suspect the mistreatment of children.
