Staff / Management Recruitment
The campus uses an automated recruitment management system for hiring staff and management positions. This system offers opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the employment process by bringing the process directly to the user’s desktop as a web-based system. The tracking and support of the employment process is more efficient with the system. Campus users and candidates will discover significant advantages to using this exciting recruitment program.
Conducting Equitable and Inclusive Searches
CSUF is committed to the recruitment, hiring and retention of a diverse workforce – including faculty, administrators, and staff.
Effective immediately, all search committee members participating in faculty, staff, or MPP searches are to complete a 90-minute diversity education session on equitable and inclusive search practices.
Individuals serving on a search committee will have to attend a session once every two years.

Staff / Management
When a department has an opening for a staff / MPP position (excluding Emergency Hire, Special Consultant, Casual Worker, and Retired Annuitant), the process begins by opening a position description and job requisition using CSUF's Common Human Resources System (CHRS).
Quick Hire
Departments may hire eligible individuals on an emergency basis for a short-term based on the respective collective bargaining agreement where position shall not require posting. If the position is required long-term, a recruitment shall be initiated.
Retired Annuitant
A retiree who works on a temporary, project-based assignment that is limited to 960 hours per fiscal year. Per PERPA, CSU employees are required to wait 180 days from the retirement date before returning to work.
Special Consultant
Special Consultants are hired to perform special assignments of a temporary nature, based on a particular knowledge, ability or expertise. Assignments are paid on a daily rate.
Casual Worker
Casual worker appointments are available to assist hiring departments with intermittent work assignments that are temporary in nature, are frequently very short-term, and do not fall within a CSU classification. Casual workers are not bargaining unit members paid at an hourly rate within a specified CSU salary range.
