Spring Semester Update: For Staff/Management

Colleagues,

Today, Provost Thomas sent a message to our faculty regarding the resumption of in-person instruction on February 7. The campus decision to begin the spring semester with virtual instruction helped minimize the population density on our campus during this Omicron surge.  Data from the Orange County Health Care Agency shows that Orange County has seen a decline in the Omicron surge, and the models predict that this will continue.

Although this variant wave is passing, it is essential that we all continue to adhere to campus health and safety measures. These measures include staying home if you are sick, reporting COVID-19 cases or exposures, testing when required to and following President’s Directive 22. Further, the University is requiring all employees and students to receive the COVID-19 booster shot by February 7. Represented employees will not be subject to the booster requirement until the CSU concludes its meet-and-confer process with its labor unions. Refer to the Titans Return website for additional information on these measures.

We are awaiting more details from the Chancellor's Office on the Governor's plan for additional COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave through September 30, 2022. We will update all of you once we have these details.

As we welcome our students back for this spring semester, enhancements are being made to campus for all Titans. I encourage you to take time to get outside, walk across the campus and check out some of the new offerings this spring. Grab a bite to eat at the new Pieology and Hibachi San or meet some colleagues for lunch at Club 57.  Check out the newly opened outdoor space and pool at the Student Rec Center or stop by the nearly completed Titan Athletics Baseball/Softball facility.

I am grateful for all of you and your contributions and continued resilience and service to our campus community throughout this pandemic. Thanks to all of you for maintaining continuity on our campus to ensure the health and safety of all Titans and high-quality education with unobstructed paths to degree for our students.

Best,
