Leadership Excellence and Development (LEAD)

The Leadership Excellence and Development (LEAD) program is a transformative and comprehensive leadership development initiative designed to empower and nurture the potential of managers at Cal State Fullerton. The program aims to equip Titan managers with the essential skills, knowledge, and mindset needed to excel in leadership roles and make a positive impact in their workplaces. 

Managers will be invited by HRDI to participate in a 2-day LEAD experience. Please keep an eye out for further communications during the 23-24 academic year.

GOALS

  • To equip university administrators and managers with the knowledge, skills, and best practices necessary to effectively lead and manage complex organizations at Cal State Fullerton, with a focus on fostering success for students and employees while advancing institutional goals.
  • To increase self-awareness, enhance personal leadership skills and style, and develop a better understanding of one's strengths and areas for improvement, in order to become a more effective and successful leader.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Managing the Business : After completion of LEAD, participants will be equipped to effectively interpret and apply CSUF Labor and Employee Relations policy and compliance regulations to university operations. 

Inclusive Leadership : After completion of LEAD, participants will acquire the knowledge to apply inclusive leadership to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in their workplace. 

Employee Engagement:   After completion of LEAD, participants will acquire knowledge to take effective steps to increase employee engagement.

Guidance and Suppor t : After completion of LEAD, participants will receive guidance and support from fellow managers and experienced leaders at Cal State Fullerton.

 

PROGRAM FRAMEWORK

Inclusive and Equitable Leadership, Guidance and support, managing the business, employee engagement

Managing the Business:   Managers will understand and apply best practices for maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and university policies, to reduce risk and ensure ethical and responsible business practices.

Inclusive and Equitable Leadership:   Managers will develop the knowledge necessary to lead a diverse team, create an inclusive workplace culture, and promote equity in the workplace through conscious and proactive actions.

Employee Engagement:   Managers will develop an understanding of the importance of employee engagement to assist with connection and belonging, motivation, conflict resolution, and developing rapport among colleagues in the workplace. 

Guidance and Support:   Managers will be provided with structure and opportunities to learn from experienced managers in the institution for the purpose of receiving guidance and support.

Managers who participate in LEAD will complete the following learning modules:

  • Corrective Action and Discipline
  • Attendance, LOA, FMLA, AWOL, Workers Comp.

  • Activating your Leadership with Values
  • Inclusive Leadership Case Study Analysis
  • Unlocking Potential: Foundations of Engagement and Motivation
