TitanCard Preferred First Name

 

In our continuous efforts to cultivate an inclusive campus environment at Cal State Fullerton where every employee feels respected, valued, and empowered, beginning on June 9, 2023, faculty and staff will have an opportunity to request a TitanCard featuring their preferred first name without having to provide documentation related to a legal name change.

 

 Here is how you can change your preferred first name on your TitanCard:

  • Log into your campus portal and click on employee home page

  • Go to employee self-service and choose CSU Personal Details

  • Choose CSU Preferred Name from the left menu bar

  • Complete the information and click save


Please wait 48 hours before visiting the Titan Card office at the Pollak Library circulation desk to request your new identification. A valid photo ID is required to verify your legal first and last name.

For those who are looking to replace their Titan Card with a preferred name, please bring your current active TitanCard to swap for a new one free of charge.   You must pay the $10 replacement fee if your TitanCard is lost or inactive.  

Once the request is complete, in addition to your TitanCard, your preferred first name will also appear on your Titan Portal, Canva, Outlook, and Zoom phone. This change will not update any information connected to Payroll Services.

FAQs 

Can I set my preferred first name to whatever I want?

Yes, but the university reserves the right to remove a preferred first name if it is used for an improper purpose, such as for fraud or misrepresentation. The university also reserves the right to remove a preferred name if it contains inappropriate or offensive language.

 

Can I use my preferred first name for everything at the university?

No. Your legal name will continue to be used in university processes that require the use of the legal name, such as for payroll records.

 

Can I change my email to my preferred name?

Once you receive your confirmation from IT, your preferred first name will then appear on your TitanCard, Titan Portal, Outlook, and Zoom phone. This change will not update any information connected to Payroll Services.

 

How can I request a legal name change?

Employees will need to complete the Employee Action Request form and request to schedule a brief Zoom meeting. Employees will need to virtually present their new social security card during the Zoom meeting.
