Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers

Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers (DIRC) is home to eight identity-based resource centers, each offering students an inclusive space to be their authentic selves, co-curricular engagement opportunities for students to develop deeper understanding of their identities and those of others, as well as resources to support their academic and personal success. All students, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity, national origin, or other protected statuses, who are interested in DIRC are welcome!

The Diversity Initiatives and Resource Center (DIRC) at California State University Fullerton is part of the Office of Engagement and Belonging (OEB) within the division of Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence
(HRIE).

DIRC is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable campus environment by offering resources that support student’s academic, professional, and personal success. We aim to empower individuals from all backgrounds.

Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers (DIRC) at Cal State Fullerton provides inclusive spaces that foster a sense of belonging for students of diverse identities and champion student success across campus. DIRC lives out this mission by:

  • Empowering students to succeed and thrive academically, personally, professionally, and in their identity development through education and engagement.
  • Celebrating the accomplishments, cultural wealth, and lived experiences of our diverse student communities.
  • Developing institutional capacity for equity-mindedness to advance holistic student success.

What Does DIRC Do?

Provide a variety of programs to support the diverse needs of the CSUF community, including:

Educational Workshops and Trainings

We offer workshops focused on academic success, professional development, identity development, allyship and leadership development.

Support Services

Collaborate with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and advocacy services for students facing challenges related to their identity.

Community Building

Creating spaces for students to connect, share experiences, and build solidarity.

Cultural Recognition Celebrations

To celebrate the accomplishments of graduating students, various centers host an end-of-year recognition celebration.

History and Heritage Months

Black History Month, Women's History Month, Asian Pacific Islander South Asian Month, Latinx Heritage Month, LGBTQ+ History Month, and Native & Indigenous Heritage Month

Workshops

Topics include identity and intersectionality, academic success, professional development, and advocacy.

Social Gatherings

Mixers and welcome events to foster community connections.

Advocacy Events

Rallies, awareness events, and panel discussions on current social issues.

Who Do We Serve?

DIRC serves all members of the CSUF community, including students, staff, and faculty. Our goal is to support individuals from underrepresented and marginalized groups, as well as anyone interested in learning about and advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
