The Women & Gender Studies Program at California State University, Fullerton is recruiting qualified candidates to teach courses on a part-time basis.
Among the courses to be staffed are:
- Women & Gender Studies 100-Intro to Gender Studies in the Humanities
- Women & Gender Studies 302-Intro to Women’s Studies

Candidates must have an ABD or M.A. with substantial graduate course work in relevant field; preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the university level; and demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with a wide a culturally diverse range of students.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
The fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the spring term runs from the beginning of February through the end of May.
Appointment and Salary
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Salaries vary depending upon qualifications and experience. The typical starting salary for part-time faculty with an M.A. is $4621 per semester for a three unit course; (with a Ph.D. – terminal degree in the field – $5515). Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department or program according to the terms of the adopted University Policy Statement (UPS 210.060). Positive reviews are based upon student ratings of instruction, course materials, and in-class observations made by a department personnel committee member or the department chairperson. The primary service responsibility of part-time faculty is to provide opportunities for student consultation outside of the regular class hours; on-line discussion periods or e-mail contacts shall not be a complete substitute for face-to-face consultation periods.
