Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety
The Department of Health Science at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor tenure-track faculty position in Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety. The Department (with over 1,600 undergraduate and 80 graduate majors) offers a B.S. in Health Science (with focus areas in health promotion and disease prevention, environmental and occupational health and safety, and global health), and a Master of Public Health (with focus areas in health promotion/disease prevention, environmental and occupational health and safety, and gerontological health). The position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate health science courses in occupational health and safety, such as occupational/industrial hygiene, occupational safety, air pollution and health, hazardous materials, ergonomics, and/or occupational epidemiology. Positive tenure and promotion decisions require excellent teaching; peer-reviewed publications; research and other relevant scholarly activities; student advising; and service to the department, college, university, and public health profession. The appointee must have:
- An earned doctorate in occupational health, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, occupational epidemiology, or related field by time of appointment.
- Commitment to providing high-quality undergraduate and graduate education, and demonstrated ability to teach students from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation college students.
- Focused ongoing scholarly and creative activity in occupational health with a record of publications and presentations, and demonstrated potential for obtaining grants and external funding.
- Potential for leadership activities in professional associations and the surrounding community.
- The ability to work collegially in a multicultural environment with a culturally diverse faculty, staff, students, and community.
- The ability to actively contribute through service to both the university and the highly diverse surrounding community.
The department is particularly interested in candidates with expertise in occupational health/safety. Professional certifications such as CIH, CSP, CPE and/or REHS are strongly recommended for this position. Rank & Salary
This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary is competitive and commensurate with rank, experience and qualifications. Periodic salary adjustments are enacted by the state legislature. Moving expenses, start-up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available. Faculty may apply for intramural grants to support research and scholarly activities and may have opportunities to teach in the summer session for additional salary.
