The Department of Communications at California State University-Fullerton is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor tenure-track practitioner-teacher-scholar in public relations. The successful candidate must teach, engage in research and service, participate in assessment of student learning, and provide academic advisement to students in a nationally recognized ACEJMC and CEPR accredited program. The teaching assignment may include courses conducted online, in the evenings, and at the Irvine campus.

The Department of Communications is one of the largest and most diverse mass communications programs in the United States, situated in the second largest media market in the country. More than 2,200 students are enrolled in four concentrations (advertising, entertainment/tourism, journalism, and public relations) with 75+ full- and part-time faculty members. - A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in communications or a relevant discipline by time of appointment.
- Professional experience in public relations or a closely related field with at least two years of experience in an agency, corporate, in-house, non-profit, consulting or similar capacity.
- Ability to successfully teach a wide range of courses including public relations writing and campaigns courses.
- Ability to contribute in the areas of accreditation self-study, assessment of student learning, and curriculum development.
- Ability to interact effectively orally and in writing with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and colleagues.
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.
- Evidence of successful teaching in public relations.
- A well-articulated research and/or creative agenda in public relations.
- Membership and involvement in PRSA, perhaps with APR accreditation.
- Contacts with industry leaders and ability to expand university-industry partnerships.
- Background and experience with social media and/or Latino-focused communications media and campaigns.

Rank & Salary
This is a tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, depending on the candidate's qualifications. Salary is competitive and commensurate with rank, experience and qualifications. Periodic salary adjustments are enacted by the state legislature. Additional teaching in summer and intersession, moving expenses, start-up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.
