Motion Picture Production

The Department of Cinema and Television Arts at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Motion Picture Production faculty position.  We are searching for an active filmmaker who has experience in all levels of production.  CSUF values and is dedicated to the goal of building a diverse community.  We strongly encourage applications from candidates who can demonstrate through their teaching, research or service that they can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our community. The appointment will begin Fall 2017.

The Department of Cinema and Television Arts currently offer Producing, Editing, Sound Design, Cinematography, Digital Effects, Narrative and Documentary production.  This is an undergraduate program and the candidate should be able to teach both beginning and advanced levels of production. The successful candidate will be teaching digital production courses at the undergraduate level.  Responsibilities include student advisement, participate in curriculum development, contribute to developing a strong culture of video and film research in the department and serve on committees that benefit the department, University, and community.  Positive tenure and promotion decisions require excellent teaching, solid exhibit record, scholarly and creative activities which result in creative accomplishments in professional discipline.


Rank and Salary
The position will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure-track. Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with rank, experience, and qualifications.  Salary is subject to budgetary authorization and any California State University System faculty contract increases. The Department
Situated in the shadow of Hollywood the Department of Cinema and Television Arts (CTVA, formerly Radio-TV-Film) offers a B.A. in CTVA, a Minor in CTVA and Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Screenwriting. Undergraduates can choose from a variety of courses in production, screenwriting, critical studies and industry management. The department serves approximately 700 majors with 26 full- and part-time faculty. The M.F.A. program has an enrollment of approximately 30 students and targets those who desire a professionally-oriented education and training in screenwriting for film and television. CTVA undergraduates all participate in an internship program that allows for credit in up to two internships. Almost all of the students intern at the major studios, networks and production companies. The department also participates in The College of Communication Study Abroad Program; Summer and Fall in Florence, Italy and in Spring, 2017 Berlin, Germany.  For more information about the department, please visit
