The Department of Economics in the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics at California State University, Fullerton, invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin in the Fall 2016. We seek candidates with teaching and research interests in Industrial Organization (JEL Codes: L1 and L2) and Applied Microeconomics (JEL Codes: D2 and D4). The department is particularly interested in candidates who possess a promising research program in these fields with a strong background in theoretical and applied industrial organization with possible empirical applications.
Successful candidates must demonstrate teaching and research ability in the field of Industrial Organization and Applied Microeconomics. Responsibilities of faculty include: (1) teaching a variety of quality undergraduate and graduate courses in the field, such as: microeconomics, mathematical economics, industrial organization, game theory, special topics courses in the discipline, as well as other courses as departmental needs arise; (2) contributing to both graduate and undergraduate programs, including supervision of undergraduate and graduate research; (3) publishing research in quality peer-reviewed journals; (4) providing service at the Departmental / College / University levels; and (5) participating in the broader disciplinary community
- Candidates must possess a doctorate in a relevant field from an accredited institution by the start of the appointment date (August 15, 2016);
- Demonstrate research potential as evidenced by research papers or a record of publication and ongoing research in the area mentioned above;
- Demonstrate effectiveness in teaching;
- Possess the ability to collaborate with the existing group of faculty and interact effectively with a culturally diverse populations of students and colleagues; and
- A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status or continuation of employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
Rank and Salary
The position is at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, tenure-track, and comes with a competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Research grants and additional teaching opportunities are typically available during summer sessions. Composed of over 20 tenured and tenure-track faculty and housed in the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics, the Department of Economics offers both BA and MA programs in Economics and in Business Administration with an Economics concentration. The department houses two active centers – the James and Jeanette Woods Center for Economic Analysis and Forecasting (CEAF) issues economic forecasts, provides policy advice on economic issues, and conducts national and regional economic analyses while the Center for Economic Education (CEE) promotes economic and financial literacy in schools (K-12), institutions of higher learning, and in the larger community.
