Sexual Assault Counselor (Licensed Psychologist)
Tenure Track 12 month faculty position
California State University Fullerton is seeking applications for a career level tenure-track counselor (psychologist) faculty position in Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Under the general supervision of the Director, the selected candidate will provide a full range of clinical services (65%) and participate in campus outreach, other projects, and other duties as assigned by the Director (35%). While this appointment has faculty status for collective bargaining purposes, it is a full-time, 12 month clinical position with limited teaching or research responsibilities. Successful candidates will have a doctoral degree in psychology, be currently licensed or license eligible, and have expertise in addressing a wide range of developmental and psychological needs of a diverse college student population. In addition to serving the general student population, this position will specifically serve as the liaison to the WoMen’s Center, assisting with the coordination of sexual assault services including psycho-diagnostic assessments & referral services, case management, brief counseling, outreach services and crisis intervention for those struggling with gender-based violence. In coordination with CAPS case managers and WoMen’s Center confidential advocate, the candidate will develop and maintain a referral database for survivors of gender-based violence. The candidate will take an active role in facilitating educational and support groups in the WoMen’s Center.
- Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an accredited program.
- California license or license eligible to practice psychology
Experience and Skills: The candidate must demonstrate experience with the following:
- Training in AND clinical experience working with individuals who have experienced sexual violence, domestic violence and/or gender-based violence.
- Issues pertinent to a diverse college student population.
- Intake clinical interviews, including psycho-diagnostic assessment, case conceptualization, and treatment plan formulation, for students with a broad spectrum of psychological problems, ranging from adjustment issues to major psychiatric disorders.
- Clinical experience providing crisis intervention and stabilization services for psychological emergencies and high risk clients in either a university counseling center or community mental health setting.
- Short-term individual, couples and group counseling
- Knowledge, sensitivity and ability to work with students from diverse ethnic, cultural, sexual orientation, and socio-economic backgrounds, ranging in age.
- Ability to develop and implement a broad range of outreach services, workshops, and presentations to the campus community on topics relating to sexual violence, domestic violence, and/or gender-based violence.
- Ability to develop and implement a broad range of outreach services related to a variety of mental health issues.
- Working effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Computer skills for electronic record keeping.
- Must successfully pass a background check and pre-employment fingerprinting.
- Specialization in an area pertinent to CSUF college students (e.g., sexual identity development; immigration and acculturation issues; trauma work; suicide prevention).
- Experience and interest in coordinating counseling groups for students.
- Experience and interest in providing outreach services and counseling to address underserved students.
- Experience and interest in the provision of supervision to pre-doctoral interns.

In the CSU system, this position is classified as a Student Service Professional – Academically Related Level I – tenure track. This is a full time 12 month position. Counselors in the CSU system serve as members of the academic faculty unit and are represented by the faculty union. Counselor faculty earn full tenure generally through a six year tenure process. Salary is competitive and is commensurate with experience and qualifications, however, there is no guarantee that an offer will be made above the beginning salary.
